Do you use my logbook data to train AI models?

Accepted Answer

No. We do not use your uploaded images, extracted flight data, or any personal information to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models, ours or our providers'. Our AI and OCR providers process your data only to return extraction results to QuickLogs, and they operate under enterprise terms that contractually prohibit training on customer content. Where is my data stored, and can I delete it?

Your account, flight data, and logbook images are stored in secure U.S.-based cloud infrastructure. You can delete your account at any time by pressing the Delete Account button under Settings → Account. Deletion is instant and not recoverable: once you confirm, your account, flights, and images are gone immediately, with no undo. We strongly recommend exporting your flight data (JSON or CSV) before deleting.

How accurate is the AI extraction?

QuickLogs averages 99.2% accuracy at the cell level, roughly 2 out of every 3 flagged or incorrect cells on a standard 250-cell logbook page. Raw extraction is only the first layer: every N-number is checked against the FAA aircraft registry, every airport code is checked against the ICAO database and sanity-checked for distance from your home base, and 16 compliance rules from 14 CFR §61.51 run over every flight before it reaches you. Anything the system isn't certain about is flagged in red or yellow in the Review Station.

Who owns my flight data?

You do. You retain full ownership of every logbook image, flight record, and edit you make in QuickLogs. We hold a limited license to process your data solely to provide the service. You can export your entire logbook to JSON or ForeFlight-compatible CSV at any time.

Question 5

How is this different from just using ChatGPT to read my logbook?

Accepted Answer

A general chatbot will give you a confident-looking table, but it is extremely likely to hallucinate. A standard general-aviation logbook page contains around 250 individual cells, and a single LLM stretching its attention across all of them will quietly invent or swap values that look right but are wrong. In a legal flight record, that is exactly the kind of false positive you can't afford. QuickLogs uses a divide-and-conquer pipeline instead: separate specialized models for table structure, aviation handwriting, N-number recognition, and airport codes, each grounded by deterministic FAA registry lookups, ICAO airport lookups, and 16 compliance checks against 14 CFR §61.51.

How does QuickLogs compare to apps like LogTen Pro or ForeFlight?

Accepted Answer

They do different jobs. LogTen Pro and ForeFlight are full electronic logbooks for managing flights you've already digitized. QuickLogs is the on-ramp that gets your existing paper logbook into a digital format in the first place. Once your flights are reviewed in QuickLogs, you can export them directly into LogTen Pro, ForeFlight, or another EFB and use that as your ongoing logbook.

I'm already a LogTen Pro user. Does QuickLogs replace it?

Accepted Answer

No, the two are complementary. Most LogTen users come to QuickLogs because they have years of paper flights that never made it into LogTen. QuickLogs extracts those flights from your paper logbook pages, lets you review them, and exports them into LogTen Pro using LogTen's built-in import. Going forward, you can log new flights directly in LogTen as you always have.

Can I take pictures on my phone and review them on my laptop?

Yes, and this is the recommended way to use QuickLogs. Open QuickLogs on your laptop, open the QR code uploader, and scan the code with your phone. Your phone opens a dedicated camera capture page that uploads each photo straight into the same session. As pages finish processing, they appear on your laptop ready for review.

Do I need a scanner, or will my phone work?

Your phone is enough. Most pilots digitize their logbook entirely from their phone camera. The pipeline tolerates real-world conditions like glare, slight skew, and worn pages. The cleaner the photo, the cleaner the extraction, so aim for even lighting, the whole page in frame, and as little curl in the binding as you can manage. There is no scanner requirement.

How long does it take to digitize a typical logbook?

Accepted Answer

Extraction averages about 45 seconds per page, and you can upload multiple pages in parallel, so processing time scales much better than that in practice. Reviewing a fully extracted page in the Review Station takes 30 seconds to a minute for a clean page, since you're mostly scanning for red and yellow flagged cells before clicking 'Mark All Reviewed'. A 50-page PPL-sized logbook works out to roughly 30 to 50 minutes of total time, almost all of it review. ATP-sized logbooks of several hundred pages are usually broken up across a few sessions.

Which paper logbook formats are supported?

We currently support Jeppesen Professional, Jeppesen Student Pilot, Sporty's, Gleim, ASA Standard SP-30, and ASA Standard SP-57 layouts. The logbook template you select is purely an organizational label for your own benefit, especially if you're digitizing several different logbooks over time. It does not affect extraction accuracy: the pipeline reads each page's actual column layout from the image, not from the template name. We're continuing to add format labels. Can I export to ForeFlight, LogTen Pro, or other EFBs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. QuickLogs exports your verified flights as a ForeFlight-compatible CSV that imports into most major electronic logbook apps. We also have a direct LogTen Pro sync that pushes your verified flights and aircraft into LogTen on your iPhone or iPad using LogTen's deeplink import. And there's a full JSON backup option for archival.

If I'm checking every flight anyway, isn't this just slower than typing it myself?

Accepted Answer

No, and something as important as a flight log should never be blindly automated. Think of QuickLogs as a copilot doing the grunt work: creating aircraft entities, parsing approaches, matching N-numbers against the FAA registry, validating airport codes, running 16 compliance checks, and assembling structured flight records. Your job shrinks to glancing at flagged cells, not typing 250 cells per page from scratch.

Question 14

What if a page fails to extract? Am I charged?

Accepted Answer

No. Pages that fail to extract are automatically refunded back to your credit balance. If you upload a page that came out badly, you can also delete it to get the credit returned, then re-upload a cleaner photo. You only pay for pages that successfully process.

How much does QuickLogs cost?

QuickLogs uses one-time credit packs, with no recurring subscription. New accounts get free pages to try the service, and you can buy additional credit packs whenever you need more. Do my credits expire?

Accepted Answer

No. Page credits never expire. If you buy a pack today and don't finish digitizing for a year, the unused credits are still on your account next time you sign in.
